From Bakery Counter to Garden Rows: A New Chapter Begins
Share
If you had told me a few years ago that baking cupcakes and hand-piping buttercream roses would lead me to planting tomatoes and dreaming about heirloom herbs, I might’ve laughed — but here we are.
Olivia’s Goodie Shop has always been about more than just sugar and flour. From the very beginning, I wanted our little shop in Stuart, Virginia, to feel like a slice of home. A place where nostalgia meets flavor, and every item is made with heart. Now, I’m excited to share that we’re growing in a brand new way — quite literally.
🌱 We’re planting a garden.
Right outside our bakery, we’re building a small but mighty garden that will supply fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables for our seasonal menus, natural canning line, and eventually, even our homemade ice cream.
Why? Because food just tastes better when it’s fresh, and community feels stronger when we reconnect with where our ingredients come from. I want our customers — especially our older neighbors who grew up with this kind of food — to feel that connection again.
🍓 From soil to shelf — naturally.
This new garden will support another exciting project: our own line of natural canned goods. Think: peach preserves made with local fruit, garden tomato salsa, and maybe even herb-infused honeys. Everything will be made with the same care you expect from us — and without the artificial stuff.
🔒 Safety and sustainability matter.
We’re taking steps to protect our garden while the shop is closed and making sure everything we grow is done sustainably and safely. (No worries about critters or nosy nibblers!) If you’ve got tips or want to help, I’m all ears.
👀 What’s next?
In the coming months, I’ll be sharing updates right here — from what we’re planting to which jams are going into jars. You’ll also get sneak peeks of limited-edition baked goods and ice cream flavors that come straight from our little patch of earth.
So whether you’re here for the cookies, curious about canning, or just cheering us on, welcome to this next chapter. It’s going to be a beautiful (and delicious) season.
